My whirpool side by side fan now runs continously. However, the freezer and frig. seem to be cooling properly. The coils are clean and all else seems to be funtioning properly. Any ideas?

A Model Number may help. By fan I assume you mean the compressor fan. If it is running constantly then your compressor is probably running constantly. Remove the covers in the freezer compartment so you can inspect the evaporator coils. Could be you have a slow freon lean and are low. Here is a good link for some basic info http://www.applianceaid.com/refrigerator.htmlCheck out #20, especially the "Example picture" files, part way down the page. |

The model number is ED25DQ. The fan running is the one that blows cold air thru the vents into the freezer and frig. It does not sound as if the compressor is constantly running. Thanks

Your Model Number should have 4 or 5 more digits on the end.
There is a whole mess of ED25DQ units. I did look at a couple of the wiring diagrams and they show that the fan should run when ever the unit is not in a defrost cycle. I should shut off during defrost. Need the last digits to confirm this.
You may be able to find the wiring diagram tucked underneath the unit behind the kick plate. |

The complete model number is ED25DQXDW04. The fan does not cycle, it keeps running non-stop.

Thanks so much for your help. I finally took the back bottom panel off the frig. and it appears the condensor fan is constantly running as is the compressor apparanently. I cleaned the whole apparatus but they both continue to run. Is this a coolant or temp sensor problem? The frig continues to cool for now. Thanks again I appreciate your help.
