I'm not sure how to access the heating element, from the top, front, or back? I took all the screws out of the back but panel does not seem to want to come off.

Use a putty knife on the clips on the front lower paner. Look in between panels and you will see the clips. Make sure you unplug dryer. you will see the element you have to take the screws out of the element housing. They are on the left side. then just pull element out.

Sorry, what I really wanted to know was how to get to it from the outter housing. Do you take off the back panel because it doesn't seem like it comes off?

tAKE OFF THE FRONT LOWER PANEL. NO YOU CAN NOT GET AT IT FROM THE BACK.
