Dryer works on high setting but not on medium heat setting. Have cleaned and checked vents for lint. Someone told me it is the timer which is $200, so might as well buy a new dryer. Help?

Locate the cycling thermostat on the blower housing. It has 4 prongs. Measure the resistance across the two small prongs. Normally it should be between 4500 Ohms to 9000 Ohms. If the reading is incorrect, replace the thermostat.
