My whirlpool washer does everything but spin, it just started this within the last couple of days. Took the case off and notice a small amount of oil on the floor. How do I tell if this is transmission oil, gear case oil, or clutch oil. What do I need to replace? Is this worth repairing?

I am not getting your model number to come up, but if this is a standard direct drive Whirlpool then your problem is your transmission has failed and you can look at the cost of a new one and assess your skills for replacing it. It is not a difficult job, so your call.
