This is my second message (don't know if the first one reached you).
I'm having trouble installing the new control panel I bought for this oven. I've removed the old one from the computer, and I can't seem to connect the ribbon (strip of 16 terminals) into the receptacle on the computer board. It seemes to be pinching the ribbon, and I can't get it to seat all the way in.
Please advise ASAP.

The ribbon connector clamps onto the ribbon cable, and before you can remove or install the cable, the clamp needs to be released. If you look at the ends of the connector, you can lift up on the clamp which will release the pressure and allow the cable to be pushed in to contact the terminals. Then push the clamp back down and locking in the cable.

I have a new control board on my hotpoint oven (9753027). The original board had the ribbon cable with the locking connector. This board has a more normal 12 pin male connector.
What I need is the female connector that clamps onto the ribbon cable. What do I order and/or where can I get this connector?

Update: I have a whirlpool Part#3191107 that was in my kitenaid oven. I have a Whirlpool part 9781981 which looks identical except for the ribbon cable socket on the board.
Are these 2 parts interchangeable except for the ribbon cable socket on the control board? It looks like they are. Looking for more expert info!

The boards may look (or even be) the same, but if the connectors are different, I don't think I would try changing the connectors to make them work. Manufacturers use different boards for different models and even different engineering changes within the same model and although many look alike, the firmware within the chip set may not be compatible with the hardware on your range. If the connectors don't, there is likely a reason beyond the obvious.

Hello Brian:
After installing the new control panel on the KitchenAid Superba double oven, it worked fine for about a week. It is now giving me the same error message E6 (red) and F2 (green), and the computer occasionally beeps three or four times at random intervals. when I turn the circuit breaker off and on, it will correct the problem, but only for a short period of time, and then the oven goes back to this erratic behavior. What do you think I should do?

Try cleaning the end of the ribbon cable with a pencil eraser and see if that resolves the problem. If not, the electronic control board my need to be replaced.
