The dryer stops running after a short time. It will restart after 20-30 minutes. It appears to be an issue with overheating. I have changed the high-temp thermostat based on the most likely cause but that did not resolve the issue. The only diagrams I have are of general nature from the web. The Maytag user manual is useless. Any suggestions welcomed. Thanks.:)

Here are your parts, includes a wiring diagram Replacement parts for MAYTAG PYE2300AYW | AppliancePartsPros.comIt sounds like the MOTOR PROTECTOR is tripping due to it's overheating. Try turning the drum by hand it should turn fairly easily. This checks that the motor is not being overloaded. Open it up and clean the motor, it may be full of lint. If both the above OK then it is the motor. Note: that in most cases with this problem the motor must be replaced. If it is the motor also check the rear rollers, the idler roller, the front glides, the drum seals, belt etc., so that you know the total cost of repair. Might as well give it an overhaul. Also sometimes the blower wheel must be replace as it gets destroyed trying to get if off. |
