Push the "Start" button on the control panel for a 90 minute wash cycle. Machine gets to 65 minute mark and stops. Push "Cancel/Drain" and it lurches once but stops. Is this a computer/control panel malfunction and is this easily replaceable? I am reasonably handy and can open up computers and replace computer boards.

Does it completely stop or it's running without time advancing? Does it fully drain when you push the Cancel button?

machine halts at 65 minutes remaining. Also when I push "cancel/drain" nothing happens. It makes one short clunk sound and quits.

Gene, I removed the toe plate and ran the machine. To my surprise water ran out onto the kitchen floor but the cycle did complete! I assume the water backs up and interrupts the cycle with the toe plate attached. I also experinced flooding in the basement directly under the machine. I have been having trouble down there, I thought my washing machine was faulty but apparently it is plumbing/draining problems. This is probably related to the fact that I had a new pump put in the basement to drain the washing machine. There must be a common draining problem. Thanks Gene. Now I will call the plumbers.

Gene,
the plumber came over and checked the pressure in the drain line and maybe cleaned something out (I wasn't there when he came and I got this info second hand from my general contractor). It seems that the dishwasher is fine now. I'm guessing we will chalk this up possibly to semi stopped up drain lines. Anyway thanks again.
Along with this problem my washing machine (Kenmore purhased in 2001) will drain a certain amount of water onto the floor when it first starts to pump the water out of the machine after the wash cycle. The machine is in the basement and a sump pump is used to pump the drain water up to the sewer line. Any thoughts on this or should I post it in the washing machine forum?

I'm glad you were able to fix the dishwasher. About your washer - it'll be better to open a new thread in the washing machine section. Do not forget to post the complete model number of the washer.
