2 years old, new in Feb 2007, $1300 Combination Speedcook/Microwave Advantium, GE Profile, In Wall SCB1001KSS Thunderstorm last night and now the LED Display is out. I searched the forums for this model and didn't find anything. Have been unable to find a schematic blow-up or accurate part number. The lower part of the LED display works, small yellow print text "locked, oven, turn dial", and the Microwave works. You can press Express and the MW runs for 30 secs like it is supposed to and the small "oven" illuminates and your coffee warms up. Anyone have thoughts or suggestions? I've attached the Display PDF #11 (upper portion, LED). Is the LED unit fried? Is there a fuse protecting the display? A link for a step by step. I installed it and don't mind taking it out for a DIY repair. Thanks in advance.

Gene -- thanks for the advice. This GE design is nuts. First off, you can't get to the LED display without removing the unit from the in-wall setting. I pulled both side trim pieces, pulled the bottom trim finish, pulled 9 screws from the sides and top and the whole display unit looks like it is fastened from the inside. I pulled both access panels from the side of the unit. IE there is no way to remove the Control Display w/o pulling the unit and then taking the entire case off (guessing then I should be able to pull the single LED unit). Needless to say, that is a bigger job that it should be. Poor design from GE (probably by design to discourage owner MX). I'll pull it out this week. Thanks for the referral to the pictures. I had seen those but my unit is only labeled KSS01 on the inside of the microwave. KSS01 refers to a table-top model and I was not sure mine was the same unit I actually checked the product label on the inside of the microwave. Another disconnect.

OK Gene – I pulled the MW from the wall and took off the case. Not hard, just cumbersome. About 12 screws to get the case off (sides and rear). There was no electrical/part schematic anywhere inside the unit. There is a very small Diagram on top, but it doesn’t help with this issue. I did not see any in-line fuses (course was not sure where to look) and no burnt/scorching marks anywhere inside. Of course the unit works, it is just the display. I unscrewed the 4 screws (vertical and horizontal) that hold the whole front display in place, and was able to then see all the front panel circuit boards. I removed the 20 PIN power/microprocessor cabling connector. After pulling the LED display out (2 screws, one covered by foam spacing block), I could finally free the Digitron Display [the LED Display and circuit board are one item]. At first I thought it was the 1A Fuse, It has some discoloration, but the Fuse is soldered to the board (that would probably mean an electrical shop repair). But turning the LED Display over, I was able to see that it has scorch marks in both corners (see the photos). Can you confirm the part number for me and where to buy it – it shows as in stock at ApplianceParts.com and could ship as early as Monday. Is it Part num 1657 (in the diagram), The Digitron, Part Number: AP3883432 made by GE? $92.27. Did I get it right; do you agree it is the Display? Anything else I should know or consider? I remain very unhappy that I have this repair w/ my 2 year old GE Profile unit.

Gene -- when putting the case on (while I wait to order the part/part to ship), I came across the Schematic (in an envelope, taped to the inside of the metal case). I've posted it here in case it helps someone else (lots of info, not just electrical diagram). And even crazier, when I put the whole thing back together and put it back in the wall to use while awaiting for your answer ... plugged it in for minimal use awaiting the repair, the DIGITRON now works -- just like new. Like resetting your computer, Freaking Amazing. Time consuming, but cheap repair - $0 - , how long will it last? Cheers

After reading just to unplug, I just flipped the breaker and the display reset. Much easier than pulling the machine out from the wall. Thanks everyone for the advice.
