I have a smooth top Maytag range and the large element will not stay on. And that makes cooking on that one extremely slow. On high it will come on for just a few seconds and then cycle off. When it cycles back on it goes off even quicker than the first time. This happens with or without a pan on the eye. The other elements stay on just fine. I was told it was the limiter in the element and ordered a replacement element from this site. But I am getting the same problem after changing it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If you changed the limiter and it still acts the same then the ONLY other thing it can be is the SWITCH for that unit!!!!!! You should be able to hear either the limiter OR the switch "clicking" when the burner is cycling on and off!!!!!!:)

Thanks for the reply. I can hear a low humming sound from the switch and it goes away when the burner cycles off and then comes back when it cycles on.
