My oven clock suddenly stopped keeping proper time and then all of a sudden it started to beep and would not stop. I got an error message of F-1. I unplugged and replugged in the oven to stop the beeping and when I called Appliance Repair Pros and gave them the error # I was told that I needed a new Electronic Clock/Timer, this part is over $200.00. I am a novice but do have friends that could help me if too complicated. I want to make sure that this is really necessary. Is there something I can do to double check that this is what I need. The oven and timer no longer work but the stovetop burners work fine.

According to your description the problem is a bad control board (aka a clock/timer). No doubt about it. You can not test it instrumentally but replacement of this part is suggested by the manufacturer (Frigidaire).

There is nothing very difficult in this job for a person who knows how to handle a simple tools.
