I have a GE that does the same thing. The Auger that moves the ice into the dispenser/crusher is plastic and most of it broke. I ordered a new Auger and thought it would be easy to put on, but I can't get the crusher parts off.

rw520app,

Remove the ice bin and the bracket (#1 on the diagram). Inspect the motor and the solenoid for the ice built up.

Remove the wires from the motor terminals and check the motor for continuity. Tape the light switch on the door frame in depressed position and check for 120 VAC between the motor wires while the dispenser calls for ice.

Post the results.

For anyone who has this issue I finally got the end plastic bolt off which holds everything on. Had to use a wrench gently but forcefully to get it off. Don't put too much pressure on it or you'll tear it up. It actually loosened by turning right instead of normal turning left for normal bolts.

Still think you're just missing the Auger and parts 18 through 28 on the motor and ice dispenser parts list that gene referenced.

No ice build up on motor or solenoid and both move freely. Motor continuity is OK. No voltage to motor wires with door switch depressed and ice dispenser calling for ice.

Most likely the problem is a bad push button switch in the dispenser control panel. This switch is not available separate and you have to replace the whole front cover assembly. If you need the correct part number post the color of the front cover.

Make sure the switch is showing the door closed, push the switch in by hand with the door open and try to push the ice button

The part number for the biscuit front cover assembly is AP3136950. You can chat with the Appliance Parts Pros team to get the ETA on the part.

The front dispenser cover can be removed by inserting a screwdriver blade into the two slots on the bottom side of the cover. By gently turning the blade, the cover will snap free at the bottom and can be slid upward to be removed.
