I replaced the defrost heater, which was in fact broken after testing, and, my freezer is perfect (so far).
The refrigerator part is not cooling below 58 degrees. the damper was wide open.
So, to date, I have replaced the evaporator fan and motor, and the defrost heater.
what can be the problem with the fridge? the temperature knob? I can test, but, have no idea what numbers to look for.
Mother board?
HELP HELP HELLP HELP!
Post from June 19:
Hello, about 6 weeks ago, my GE Eterna side by side was freezing up on the bottom, after reviewing the repair forums, I changed the evaporator fan motor.
Everything was fine, now, the back of the freezer is frosting up, and the top shelves of both freezer and fridge are about 10 degrees warmer then the bottom.
(Fridge top is 55 degrees, at coldest setting)
I visually checked the motherboard, didn't see any burnt/scorch marks or disconnected solder points.
I did graze my finger on the little black boxes (on motherboard), and, felt a faint current! (didn't seem right)
I opened up the back panel, and vacumned it out, although not very dirty.
There was some ice build up on the copper tubing from the compressor.
I read on some blogs a possible cause for this would be the defrost heater, but, am thinking maybe the motherboard is causing all the problems to begin with?
Any thoughts would be much appreciated!!!!
