I too am confused........I don’t see that fault code listed in the Service Manual (page 13 and 14).
I'm an owner of three of the machine with some hands on experience and I have worked many hundreds of post across 5 different forums and have never seen that fault code for the FAV6800A or FAV9800A TL’s.
Could it be an undocumented fault code?.....could be.
What was the failure scenario/troubleshooting steps that triggered a Console Control board replacement?
Can you enter into Service Mode with this error code present in the LED display?
I'll try to help..........Dick

Thank you for answering, The Bleach and Softner dispensers were not working. I replaced the valves and they still didn't work, so I replaced the board and the machine appears to work. My wife is trying it again now. The code "A1" is there, but the machine seems to be working????

I have no clue maybe a repair tech on this forum may have seen this error code in the past with a Maytag Neptune FAV6800A TL. Stumbled on this searching for a clue I'll give it a try in the morning but it may yield nothing; "" If your Maytag Neptune washing machine displays any codes that are not listed above, contact Maytag Neptune Priority One Service for assistance. Maytag Neptune Priority One Service (888) 462-9824""You could also call Maytag Customer Assistance the number is in the back of the Service Manual and see if they can help with the error code. I would go into Service Mode and clear the Diag Codes from the machine. Then on the next A1 error code generation look thru the Diag Code blocks and see if any get turned on/set. I wonder if Diag Code block 28 "Water valve thermistor failure" might be set with the A1 error code. The A1 error code is an i nteresting issue and I'm sorry I can't be of much help. I'm glad to see you can get some laundry done........Dick
