I have a 25 year old Maytag LA712 washer, serial number 025576PJ, that has the old style transmission, which has failed. That transmission is no longer available.

Can I replace it with the newer style, orbital transmission for the large tub Maytag LA712? If so, what parts must I order to do the conversion?

The good folks in AppliancePartsPros.com's technical support have advised me that I could use the following parts:

Orbital Transmission Kit: part number AP4373301 (Maytag part # 2-6707)
Tub Bearing Kit: part number AP4372971
