I have a GE WKSR2100TBWW Washer that started making a horrible sound tonight during the spin cycle! I ran the cycle again with nothing in it, and it still exists during the spin cycle only, though. The first portion of the wash doesn't make the sound.

I have a good knowledge of fixing things, but I've never taken a crack at a washer before. Please let me know if you have any ideas as to what this could be!

EDIT: The squeaking sound sounds like its coming from the bottom rear area of the unit. It seems to almost be in like a sequence (about the same time between each squeak).

You will need to get into the unit and do some listening. The front panel is held in place by a couple clips between the top and from panel. Use a putty knife to press in these tabs and the front panel will tilt forward to lift off the base. Try moving the tub up and down and see if you hear the noise. Many times, the suspension rods will make noise as they begin to fail. If they sound good, then you are looking for something in the drive area and will need to run the unit in spin to look for the noise. Then once the area is pinpointed, it is easier to figure out what is causing it.
