After setting the timer dial on timed dry, the heat element will start getting red hot before I push the start button and it does not cool down when in cool down cycle either.(this is the main concern at the moment). This dryer did get over heated by previous owner. I replaced the non-reset thermal cut-off and cleaned entire insides of the dryer and it has worked fine for a few months except for the auto-miser option which does not advance the timer, just like all the others apparently. I am thinking that one or more of the other thermos must need replaced because of the previous over-heat. If so, which ones? Should this also remedy the auto-timer issue as well? Although I can live without using the auto option and just use the time-dry anyway. The element getting hot before pushing start is a safety concern to me.

Here are your parts Model LER7646EQ2Here is the wiring diagram https://www.servicematters.com/d...0Sheet%20-%203406692.pdfSounds like a grounded element. The heating element has broken and is now touching the frame/case Remove the wires from the element. Measure between them for resistance. Should be around 10 ohms Measure from each side to the case. Should be an open (infinity ohms) If you do not have a meter remove the heater and inspect it visually, usually you can see the short. |
