My oven was baking and then there was a bright white flash and then part of the bottom element was very bright white while the rest was red hot until it cooled down. The clock works and keeps time pressing the bake or broil works just doesn't heat on top or bottom element. Does the elements need replacing or is it something else?

Mark,

The bottom (bake) heating element is bad. No doubt about it. Check the upper (broil) for continuity. If the element is open, replace it too.

Check for 240 VAC to the Bake heating element while control calls for Bake and for 240 VAC to the Broil heating element while the control calls for Broil.

If there is no proper voltage, the control board is bad and has to be replaced. Unfortunately this part is no longer available.
