Tried using the oven and it will not turn on. When you input the temperature, it click 2 times and nothing. Also you can smell a little gas. The display counts down the time for pre-heat but it does not heat up.

I read something about a thermal fuse common to Whirpool ovens. Could this be the problem? Thanks

I believe that the thermal fuse could be the problem but I would like someone to let me know if I'm correct. Also, I would like the part number for ordering and some instructions on how to replace it. Thanks again

Do the surface units ignite and work correctly? Are you hearing the spark inside the oven when you start a bake cycle? Does the broil work? Your oven does not have a thermal fuse so that will not be the problem. The gas valves and ignition system is controlled by the spark module (AP3672576) behind the upper rear panel. That may be a place to start, but it depends on your answers to the questions above.

Hi Brian and thanks for your help. I hear 2 clicks and then nothing when trying to use the oven. The broiler does not work and no clicks. The surface units all work fine. The control panel looks fine and appears normal.

The bake and broil use two different circuits to power the spark module, so if you have a multimeter, you need to verify voltage into the control board at the black wires connected to pins P2-2 and P6. If you do not have voltage, check the wiring to the terminal block where the power cord plugs into the range. If you do have voltage, check for 120vac at the blue wire pin P2-1 and the red wire pin P2-4 when a bake and broil cycle are started. If you do not have voltage, then the control board is not working.

Thanks again for your help Brian. But at this point, I've decided to trash this 7 year old piece of garbage that I've been constantly replacing part after part for and nursing along. Sears had a great sale on ovens and I bought one yesterday. Also, Whirlpool gave me a 15% rebate off of my purchase due to all the problems we've been having. I've never had so much trouble with an appliance before and I hope that the new one is better and restore my faith in american made goods.

Sorry to hear you have had such difficulty with your range. At least Whirlpool gave some consideration to your troubles.
