Hi, The fridge is cooling fine but the freezer is cold but does not freeze. i can hear the compressor and the fan running the whole time. I just change the motor on the comp. fan. I did some reading i am leaning towards the defrost timer being faulty. I check the coils at the back of the freezer but there is no ice build up. Help?

If there is no ice build up, you do not have a defrost problem Make sure your condenser coils are clean. You may have a low freon Here is a good link. Check out #20 especially the "example picture"s at the bottom of the post. http://www.applianceaid.com/refrigerator.html |

Thanks for the response denman, so if it is low freon, is it worth saving it? I do not think that this something that you can do yourself (freon filling). Great info on that link you've provided. Thanks

Adding freon must be done by a tech with the proper equipment and certification.
You could call a couple places and get a quote.
Problem is cost. Also if it is a small leak and is not found it will just happen again.
May well be time to look at a new unit. |
