Hello, I am having trouble with the spin cycle on may Neptune 8700. It is stopping during the spin cycle with a "dc" error code. This has happened on and off but began working again if re-started. not the case anymore. even with nothing in the tub it has the error. in addition it starting making a loud "wurring" or "jet engine" sound like a bad bearing. It is not the tub bearings because I unhooked the belt and the motor itself is making the noise even with virtually no load. I would like to make sure the motor is infact the issue that is causing the error code, or is the problem deeper?

any help is appreciated.

The DC error indicates the control determined the basket was out of balance and thus would not ramp up to a full speed spin. It is possible the noise from the motor is also causing drag and giving the board the impression that the basket is not moving freely. If you hear noise from the motor, it's probably time to replace it.

correction, the error code is "dc" with absolutely nothing in the basket and therefore perfectly balanced. and gives an "E3" error code with a normal load the manual says e3 says the machine is not seeing any rpm, but the basket is infact spinning just not very fast, it seems to struggle. I did a spin test empty in the diagnostic mode and it is quitting right around 170rpm.
You think that the drag from the motor bearings is enough to cause the error? Even when the belt is not hooked up and there is no load at all on the motor or with an empty basket? I turned the motor by hand and it feels pretty smooth, but I guess it is possible. I just don't want to spend $100 on a motor and have it still give error codes and leave soaking wet cloths.

thanks for the help.

These motor circuits are quite sensitive and yes a problem with the motor bearings can be enough to cause the problem. It is always more likely that the tub bearings are the problem, so you would want to be sure the basket is moving without any excessive drag, and there is no play up/down, left/right in the basket either. It should spin freely without any noise or wobble. You indicated the motor was making noise even while disconnected from the basket, so that alone should be an indication the motor needs to be changed. As for stopping the error codes, you are going to have to make your best judgment about the feel and sound from your washer and if there is any other possible problem with the basket and tub.
