My dishwasher now has a dirty water left in the bottom. It does pump out through the disposal, I've watched the water flow through the disposal during the drain cycles. The dishes are not getting rinsed or cleaned properly. It's like it's getting "backflow" from what the pump can't push uphill to the garbage disposal. Is there a backflow valve that's stuck open?

Very likely the problem is a bad piston (#564 on the diagram).

You can find more information in one of our previous threads: http://forum.appliancepartspros...er-wont-drain-fully.html
