Our Maytag Quiet Series 200 Dryer is just over two years old. We have never had any trouble before but now the drum is turning but we have no heat! What do you suggest?

The first thing I would do is go to the breaker box, and kick the breaker off and on a few times, and then check the dryer. If that does not work, it is most likely the element, or the high limit thermostat. Tom

It eventually heats up but takes a long time. It also does not shut off.

laurasigg,

The most common cause of such problem is a clogged exhaust line and/or clogged air ducts and the blower wheel inside the dryer.

Gene.

Just like my customers, it does not heat!!!! Then it does heat, and takes too long!!!! My wife answers the phone at our business, and try's so hard to get the correct problem, so we know what to bring. It happens here too. I can't win Gene!!!! That is why I drive a 2007 Ford E250 Van, so I can carry everything. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

laurasigg are you also lthompson?

If not is your model number the same as lthompson's?
There are a number of different Series 200 dryers.

Did you try switching the breaker off/on as kayakcrzy suggested?
Best way is to check the power input with a meter, should be 240 volts (L1 to L2)

As Gene suggested check the vent system by:
Undo the dryer from the exhaust
Run a load
If the load dries correctly then you have a vent problem.
Clean/check the vent system. Make sure the outside louvers open fully.

If you do not want lint in the house.
Take a pair of pantyhose, put one leg into the other and attach this to the dryer exhaust.
Leave enough room behind the dryer so it can blow out like a windsock.
Run a load.

Both the above will allow you to check the air flow and temp.
Also the above is NOT recommended for a gas dryer due to possible carbon monoxide problems.

If none of the above work.
Do you have a meter?
Do you have some electrical troubleshooting experience?
This is a fairly complicated unit.

Here are your parts
Model MDE4806AYW

And some technical info
