My dryer element is so hot it has burned a brown spot 12" x 3" on the underside of my countertop. I'm afraid to use it.
I pulled it out and am using it this way, open air. The element seems to be working fine, firing up getting hot then adjusting throughout the cycle.

I have cleaned the vents, etc. Please help.
I have pics I can send.... pictures are worth a thousand words....
