In the picture of the lid switch--the plastic at the end--are there copper wires under it or do I need an older part?

Where did you see copper wires for the lid switch? All wires are insulated.

- The lid switch Part number: AP3100003
Part number: AP3100003

is the correct part for the washer with the model number you posted.

My machine has both wires twisted together in yellow protector caps not the phone jacks looking system; again, is there cooper under the plastic housing I see in the picture so I can coil the wires?

Stephen,

If the model number you posted is L5Q9564JQ0 then it does not come up. If you misread it and the correct model number is LSQ9564JQ0 then the above listed lid switch is exact replacement part and it does not need any alteration.
