when i turn on the dishwasher a loud noise occurs that is coming from the base of the dishwasher; throughout the cycle the noise comes and goes; almost sounds like gears not meshing or some type of pump problem startup noise:confused:

Sounds like the COOLING FAN blade that is built into the MOTOR has broken loose from the motor shaft,(its been a problem for YEARS!!!!) Remove the bottom panels from the unit, The motor is in the middle of the unit. Its Black in color, if you look 1/2 way through the MOTOR, you will see the fan blade, see if it spins easy!! without the MOTOR SHAFT spinning, if it does, you will have to replace the pump and motor assy. or the dishwasher.
