The timer knob is getting harder and harder to turn. Is there an easy fix, like oiling it, or do I have to spend $104.34 for a new AP374461 timer plus shipping? The machine is still works once you get the knob turned to the start position... Thank you, Rocky J Seattle, WA

I would carefully use WD-40 and spray only the shaft of the timer. That should fix it, assuming this is a totally enclosed plastic timer that can't be taken apart. Spray the shaft while turning the timer knob. Just avoid getting the spray on the switch contacts.
Also, you can spray the switch contacts by spraying a non-residue cleaning spray into the small opening at the connector. This spray is available at Lowes.

Thank you Richappy for the advice! So do I just pull straight out on the timer knob to get access for the WD-40 spray nozzle. It is a tight fit to get the nozzle close. I'm nervous about the possibility of cracking the plastic knob, by pulling the wrong way... Thank you again! Rocky J. Seattle, Washington

I would use the newer WD-40 can with the handy spray tube allready attached, available at Wall Mart, $4.00

Thank you again Richappy! I pulled on the knob, opening a small access point to spray, using the flexible nozzle tube on the WD-40. A couple quick blasts, wiped away the excess. Letting is rest until the next day before wanting to use the dishwasher again. Bingo the knob turns as well as it did when new. Maybe a temporary fix, time will tell. I'm a happy camper here in Seattle. I think that you have saved me a hundred bucks at least!

Thanks for the response, glad it worked out. I had a similar sticking problem with my Subaru plastic emergency brake handle and WD-40 fixed it!
