Hi all ,our side by side maytag quit working last night ,after reading through your forum this is where I'm at :
Neither side is getting cool at all
all fans are working
evap coils are not icing up ,not cold at all
compressor is hot and doesn't appear to be making any noise,no starter clicking or humming .
Anyone point me in the right direction as far as testing components ,I have a meter and some electronics experience .
Thanks in advance

Was thanked: 2 time(s) in 2 post(s)
If the condensing fan is running, but the compressor is hot, your compressor has sucked in non-compressables due to a refrigerant leak, very expensive to fix.

Thanks for your fast reply ,I hope it's nothing that drastic the fridge is only 4 yeas old .
I took the starter and relay off the compressor last night and the relay has a very slight rattle when you shake it so I think I'm going to try changing both components out and see if I get lucky .

I changed out the starter and the relay and it's been fine ever since ,I think the parts cost about $40 and maybe 15 -20 minutes to dismantle and change out .

thanks. I pulled the relay and it's black around the ends so I guess I'll be changing it out.
