what are main things to check for when face with this problem please describe i would appreciate it.:)

If no motor hum at all=bad lid switch, if motor hum=pump clog.

no motor hum though i hear a slight buzz from the timer can that be it and how do i go about the lid

If the lid switch fails to "click" when the lid is closed, the switch is bad.
There is take apart info at www.applianceaid.com. Once apart you can get at the lid switch, a routine repair.
