I'm pretty handy, not bragging but if I read a manual or take something apart, I can usually locate the issue, broken part, chipped piece, missing a piece, etc. In this case, the latch no longer locks the dishwasher door. The latch handle feels floppy and unattached but is in place. I have tested the electrics by holding the lever up in the locked position and the dishwasher begins to cycle. I believe the problem is contained in the latch. It's not going up and locking properly. There are three basic pieces, the handle, actuator and mount. For the life of me, I can't see any issues, it just doesn't work.

You have to remove the console panel to access the door latch assembly and diagnose the problem. You can find the complete instructions in the Service manual (pages 14 & 16). Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool dishwasher Model GU2500XTPB7Gene.
