Please Help! Single Mom trying to learn. My GE top load washer overflowed during rinse cycle, on extra large load, with clothes in tub (not over filled with clothes). Didn't seem to do this on other load sizes. -Checked water supply hoses, o.k.
-Cleaned some debris out of screens on water inlet valve.
-I checked resistance with mini-multi meter but it's digital and everything I read said to set it at the lowest level and that anything between 100 -1000 ohms was o.k. My meters' lowest reading is 200 and nothing happens when set there. The next setting is 2000 and when I place it there and test the selinoids it reads in the 800's. So which setting do I use when I am testing the different parts for reistance? 200 or 2000?
-Connected everything and tested, overfilled again.
- Began looking at water level switch.
-Disconnected hose from switch, used a straw to blow into switch while testing for resistance and then checking to see if they switched and those with resistance changed to no resistance and vicea versa. (following steps in several books)
-Reconnected everything and NOW the washer spurts water for about 2 seconds and then immediately begins to aggitate.
- Have not disconnected water level switch from the dome thing to see if it is blocked.
- I just ordered a new water inlet valve but wondered if there was any other part I should get or if I even have the right part identified.
PLEASE ANY ADVICE I am desperate. Thank you for your time. Diane

Diane, Check the water fill tube for any holes or cracks.
