You think the problem might be from a restricted vent? Talbany, Correct, I would have to presume, the vent was clogged, kinked or restricted, some how, based on the information you supplied. Basically, on an auto dry setting, the dryer has to heat properly(155dgrs.) and cause the "cycling/regulating thermostat to open. if for one reason or another the hi limit thermostat opens( the temperature in the drum is too high too fast) , before the cycling thermostat, the heat will shut off, but because the cycling thermostat was delayed, there's no circuit to the timer motor and it won't advance. The timed dry setting, will run for whatever time you select, wether it heats or not. Your best bet, have someone ( you ?) check and clean the exhaust vent pipe and check the hood for clogs, and shorten and align the exhaust vent, so it's as short and straight as possible. For future reference, if or when you notice the dryer taking longer to dry a normal load, check and clean the vent , first. :cool: :cool: :cool:
