I ordered a new belt and idler pulley and installed them, but it seems like where the belt enters the pulley, that it is somewhat sideways, almost like the belt is too tight. It also rubs against the metal section of the pulley that the wheel attaches to. The parts are the right ones, but I believe that I have the newer idler pulley model, where it installs closer to the motor. My older idler pulley was smack in the middle of the base of my dryer. This newer one will not fit there, so I have followed all the instructions that I can find to complete the install. Everything powers on when I plug in the dryer, but I am afraid that the belt will wear or break so I have not started it yet. Any advice will help, looks just like all the pictures I have seen for a successful install. Thanks!

See attached photos, directions below: Whirlpool / Kenmore dryer belt configuration Top view of the drum with the belt installed 8178496.pdf (87kb) downloaded 5 time(s).First, put the belt around the drum, with belt ribs against the drum. Re-install the drum back inside the dryer, make sure the drum sits on the rear rollers and the rear felt seal is nice and even. Put the belt through the idler arm and around the motor pulley, then pull on the idler arm to put the belt around the idler pulley. Make sure the belt lines up with the outline made by the old belt. Give the drum a spin by hand to make sure everything aligns properly. Re-assemble the rest (front panel, top panel, etc.). Hope this helps. Admin / APP Team attached the following image(s):

I forgot how the silly idler pulley fit the belt through it.
One of the guys from the local appliance store said they non-wheel version I have was only used for only a few years cuz it burned through belts. Lucky me.
