My Whirlpool Gold Accubake 465 electric range has a weird problem. The food bakes unevenly - the bottom of the food is always way underdone, while the top is brown. If the bottom is done then the top of the food is burned. This happens with different kinds of food, in a myriad of different baking pans. I calibrated the oven temp with an oven thermometer, and it appears to be right.

Oven is 8 years old. Could the bake element be going bad? What is the specified ohm reading for the bake element? Or could the control panel be cycling that element off and on, causing weird temp variations in the life of the bake cycle? Any other ideas what it could be?
