Any help would be appreciated . . .
The washer does not agitate when in the gentle cycle:( . I just replaced the timer on the unit, but that did not solve the problem:mad: . Are there other places to look?
Thanks in advance!!

This is a two speed motor, and since the motor works on one speed the likely problem is the motor switch, this part here. Part number: AP3125984
Before spending money I would take the switch off and clean all the contact with good electrical contact cleaner and reseat everything solidly. That might fix it.

Before I'd purchase a $74 switch, I'd purchase a brand new $99 2-speed motor that comes with a new switch. When you say the gentle cycle doesn't agitate, does neither the bottom portion of the agitator nor the top portion (clothes mover) move? If it's just the top portion, the inexpensive drive dogs are toast. Do you get a hum from the motor on gentle?

I'll check the two-speed motor switch. When agitating on any other cycle, the top agitates just fine. ONe other subtlety is that when the gentle cycle drains / rinses / spins, the tank does not empty completely. It is the only cycle where this occurs. Is this because it is not spinning at low speed and habce not driving all the water out, so it drains out of the clothes after the timer expires?
Thanks for the replies. I'll get to the switch this weekend. Older unit in the basement makes dirt in the switch a very real possibility.
Again, great forum. Thanks, Will keep you all posted.
