I just replaced my belt on my Maytag dryer. Everything seemed to be working fine, (drum was turning and heat was being generated). I started to smell rubber. I turned off the dryer and opened the front panel and noticed the belt slipped off. I realized I didn't have the belt around the pulley correctly. Now my dryer will not turn on. Any suggestions?

A make and model number may help others help you.

Some units have a belt break switch on/near the idler wheel perhaps this is not being close, if your unit has one.

Have you tried shutting the breaker off/on slowly a couple times.

Many units have a thermal fuse mounted on the blower assembly perhaps this blew.
