Last night we turned our dishwasher on when we went to bed. When I got up this morning, the GE dishwasher was still running in the short cycle. Everything on the counter was very warm to the touch. We have tried to run again, and it still stops in the short wash cycle. If we manually move to the next cycle (rinse) it still does nothing but continue running like where it's stuck on the short cycle. It's running but not doing the normal washing. If we manually move to dry cycle, it does work from there and finishes correctly.

Any help would be great. I don't want to buy a new washer unless I have too!
