Hello, After reading many posts on the subject of Maytag ovens that won't ignite or won't go up to temp I believe I have a bad igniter for the baking part of my oven. I took the screws off the igniter and pulled the wires out but I don't see any connections from inside the oven. Do I need to go in from the back panel to get at the connections? Any help you can provide in replacing the igniter, including panel removal if necessary, would be much appreciated. Thanks!

If the igniter wires, you can pull out, are long enough then you can cut off the old igniter and splice the new igniter wires, using a high temperature porcelain wire nuts. These wire nuts are included in the igniter kit. - The part number for the oven igniter kit is AP4012072Gene. The model number you posted does not come up.

Gene, I can pull out about 8" of wire so I think that is enough. There is some white woven insulation around the wires. How important is it to have that in place? I don't think I can stuff the wire nuts down inside the insulation. Thanks for your help Gene!

Tommy,
Splice the wires and pull them together with the wire nuts through the hole in the rear panel. Put the "woven" insulation in the hole to prevent the hot air coming through it.
Gene.
