The dryer works fine except that the timer won't advance and shut the thing off. I assume the timer is bad, but maybe there are other reasons that may cause this to happen.....Any suggestions....

Yours should be close. https://www.servicematters.com/d...0Sheet%20-%203406688.pdf It shows the 2 paths for timer motor voltage TIMER SWITCH TM/WB/OR Try an Auto cycle Low Heat. If it does not advance odds are high that the timer is shot. In this mode timer advances when heater shuts off during a cycle. A more positive way to test it is to measure for voltage across the timer motor in Timed Dry. If it is getting 120 volts and not advancing, the timer is shot.
