neither side is getting cold. can hear it running, blowing no air. back of freezer was frosted, fairly heavily (1/4 in. or so) ... someone in house had cranked both thermostat controls up to "coldest" ... i took everything out of freezer, lowered both temp controls to "0". could hear it "sizzling", and the frost/ice seemed to melt fairly quickly (10-15 min. or so)

gave it a couple more hours with freezer door open...then turned it on again ...still same response. can hear it start up, still blows no air at all.

i did read your other post on when the "freezer works/fridge doesnt) ... but my situation seems a bit different as both sides not working.

PLEASE HELP !!

thanks !!!

Here is your parts breakdown
Model ED2NTQXKQ03

Here is a tech sheet
https://www.servicematters.com/d...heet%20-%20W10142170.pdf

Check under the unit for the tech sheet specific to this unit. Sometimes they make changes without changing Model Numbers.

The sizzling seems to indicate that the unit did go into a defrost mode and that the defrost heater worked.

You may be stuck in a defrost cycle. It should last approximately 20 minutes. Evap fan off, compressor off and compressor fan off.
Turn your controls to midscale unplug then reconnect the unit.
If it has been longer that 30 minutes.
Rotate the cam on the defrost timer (#6 in "Control" section). Looks like there is a hole in the cover to allow this. The compressor should come on.
If the evap fan does not come on it is probably shot. You will not notice much cooling if the evap fan is off. It circulates the air in the freezer and also blows the cool air into the fresh food section.

If it starts up OK note where the cam is. Let it run a couple hours then recheck the cam position. If it has not moved (rotated) then the timer is shot re: motor not rotating the cam.

is that why it frosted up...no air to move temp around, thus it just builds up??

I thought you had said the ice melted off during defrost.

is that why it frosted up...no air to move temp around, thus it just builds up??

No. Frosting up is just part of the normal operation. The moisture condenses on the coils. Cold air cannot hold as much moisture as warm air. But there is a difference between frosting up and icing up.

Over time the frost builds up to the point where air cannot travel through the evaporator coils. This then drastically reduces the cooling efficiency. That is why they have defrost, this melts the frost/ice and keeps the coils clear.

So it will frost up whether or not the fan is running.
But if the fan does not run it will not cool the air in the freezer properly (air must flow over the coils and circulate).

Hope the above helps explain it a little.
