At the bottom of my dishwasher, under the guard ring, there appears to be a filter ring. It is full of "stuff" is this something that should be cleaned out?:rolleyes:

Yes clean it.
Anything that impedes water flow will reduce the quality of the wash.
It will also cause extra load on the motor.

How would I go about getting the cover off? I know I have to remove the guard ring first. Then what?
