I have a hotpoint smooth top electric range and the cooktop is cracked and needs to be replaced. I'm just wondering if the job is easy to do or needs to be done professionally.

is a relatively easy, but realy help to have extra hands. turn the power off. you just have to un screw 2 phillips screws in front. lift the front just like a car hood. you should see 2 rails with 2 burners each. should be 2 1/4 screws per rail (one on each side). un screw and lower to the oven top. pay attention to what the screw holes on the top so as to properly align the burners to the glass top. replace the top, return the burner rails, and voila! good luck and post your results
