Do I need to unscrew all the screws on all 5 burners and take the top off to get to the ignitor? The screws on burners are too tight. What are the ways to unscrew them? Looking at the nut with the 2 notches, it appears as they way to acess the ignitor clip .

You can try to use WD-40, but the rate of success is very low. Gene.

Rank: Member Groups: Registered Joined: 3/10/2009(UTC) Posts: 1		I've been able to replace a few by removing the torx screws that hold the burners to the stovetop, but the latest attempt has resulted in a stripped screw and I need to drill it out. Spent about an hour drilling with little progress arg. Wish there was a better way.

I have replaced a few of them over the years due to this problem. Most recently, I replaced the ignitor on the center (big) burner and the same problem continues - still sparking after flame is lit. Attempted to remove screws on second burner. One screw broke, the other stripped. I need good advice on how to get these small screws. I see talk of drilling… Then what? Also, is the continuing to spark after the flame is lit truly a problem with the ignitor, or is this caused by something else?

Rank: Member Groups: Registered Joined: 6/30/2010(UTC) Posts: 27		If you are having a problem with the ignitor keeping sparking after ignition, I would suspect the ignitor switch on the valve rather than the ignitor itself.
