Hi. I was wiping out the bottom of the oven and lifted the bottom heating burner/element a little and everything clicked off. The stove top won't turn on, the clock is off, etc. I pulled out the oven and unplugged and plugged back in and nothing happens. I've checked the circuit breaker as well. I have family flying into town today and I'm supposed to be cooking a roast. Help please!! Thanks!!

How did you check the circuit breaker?
Just looking at it is not good enough as sometimes you can loose half the line without tripping the breaker.
Try flipping it off/on slowly a couple times.
It may not rest once tripped if the stove/element still has a short in the circuit.
If that does nothing then you will have to check that the unit is getting both 120 volt sides of the line.
One thing to note is that on many stoves the element still has 120 volts going to one side of it even when it is turned off. Sounds like you blew that side of the line when cleaning the oven. |
