Refrigerator on lowest setting and freezing food. Could this be a cold control (thermostat) problem? Was also wondering if anyone may know where I could view some diagrams showing where the parts are located. Should I replace the defrost timer while I am at it?

Any help with this would be appreciated.

I am not actually sure of the age. The refrigerator was given to me.

Most likely the problem is a bad air control (#14 on the break down diagram). I do not think you have to replace the defrost timer if there is nothing wrong yet.

Here are the break down diagrams for the Amana refrigerator Model TJ18K
