I bought a small freezer for a solar cabin. It says it's estimated yearly usage is 212 kwh per year. I divided this by 365 which equaled 581w per day, I'm assuming that's with the freezer set half on the thermostat and maybe 3/4 filled. Freezer says it uses 1.3 amps at 115 volts which equals 150w per hour. I have been testing the freezer on low to see how long and often it runs without opening it, and it runs approximately 20 minutes an hour or approximately 8 hours per day, at 150w per hour, equalling 1200w per day or 438 kwh per year. Over twice as much as the energy guide says even on low. My question is, what am I missing? When the freezer is running, is it not always using the 1.3 amps because the compressor cycles, or something like that? Can anyone explain this? Thank you Steve
