The bake element does not work. The broiler element does work.
When the stove is turned on there is the normal "click" of it starting to heat up...quickly followed by another "click" I assume the second click is the bake element shutting off since I can still heat the oven with the broiler element until the "preheat" light comes on

Thre are no breaks in the bake element. I have not tried a volt meter yet and would like to avoid if there is an easy answer. Possiblities have been listed as bad bake element, bad thermostat or bad controls.

Would like to know if second click in controls and the ability to "overide" the bad bake element by preheat using the brolier element would steer me to the more appropriate part.

Thanks

Hi Kevin,

Possibilities are a bad Bake element, a broken wire to the Bake element or a bad control board.

You have to remove the Bake element or to pull the range off the wall to perform the troubleshooting and find out which part is bad.

You have to inspect the wires, then remove the wires from the Bake element and check the element for continuity.

If there is nothing wrong then you have to check for 120VAC between each wire and ground and for 240VAC between the wires while the control calls for Bake. If there is no proper voltage then the control board has to be replaced.

- The part number for the Bake element is AP2031067

- The part number for the control board is AP2632445
