A technician who just replaced the valve in our 11 year old Quatro heater told us that the manufacturer went out of business because their heaters had been known to cause fires. Any truth to that? I'm not finding anything online. I'm especially interested because our smoke detectors went off in the middle of the night last night. Fire department didn't find anything, but it's got me thinking...

Best thing to do is to be sure all safeties are operating . the gas co. can do that for you ; but if you do not trust your furnace no more ....replace it.

We have a Quatro problem also. Unit is 13 years old. It won't ignite sometimes, and other times the gas shuts off but the motor keeps running even though it hasn't reached the temp on the thermostat by a longshot. Any news on this unit. Is it a fire hazard? Did your finally work well when you replaced the valve? EK
