I have a Whirlpool ceramic-top stove and some mice have torn out some of the insulation (bless their little hearts!). (1) Would it be too hard for me to replace the insulation myself? (2) Can the insulation even be replaced? (3) How do I know if I truly need to replace the insulation or if there is still enough left to be able to use my stovetop?

A Model Number would help to see if an insulation blanket is available.
(1) Would it be too hard for me to replace the insulation myself? Depends on the model and the install.
(2) Can the insulation even be replaced? Yes. If just adding insulation make sure it is not stuffed in tightly, as this reduces the insulation value.
(3) How do I know if I truly need to replace the insulation or if there is still enough left to be able to use my stovetop? Only you can judge this by visual inspection and feeling on the outside of the unit for hot spots.
Get rid of the mice as they will be back when the family needs another cozy bedroom. |
