We did a load of laundry, and it finished wet and heavy, and perhaps soapy. So we started the cycle again. Same thing. Then we actually watched the washer. We tried spin, to get rid of some water. It wouldn't spin. Just made a noise. Tried a cycle. The drum still wouldn't turn. The door light showed locked, and the door was locked. Once I had an appliance (I can't even recall if it was a washer or a dishwasher) that I found a clog in by the pump, and that was a simple fix. So with this washer I took off the front panel and removed the two hoses, and found a loose quarter and a lot of water (I think the washer had drained, but a lot of water came out from the hose). One thing I noticed about the pump was that the vanes would spin back and forth about 1/4 of a turn, but not freely all the way around. I assume that's a problem, but I'm not seeing what it would have to do with the drum not turning. I could see a belt back in the back, and turning the drum by hand seemed to turn the belt and motor. This breakdown mystifies me, although that's not hard to do since I'm not much of a handyman. Does it sound like a familiar problem?
