This morning I added a small load to the dryer. When it started tumbling it made a thumping noise as it was turning. It sounded like it was out of balance. When I looked inside, as it was tumbling, I noticed the drum was turning unevenly.

What part(s) might be needing replacing?

I cannot get your model number to come up, but with Maytag dryers there are rollers on the rear wall of the cabinet that support the drum. You may have a damaged roller on the back, and/or there may be a damaged one on the front if there are rollers on the front.

Check it out and if you have more questions or need more info, check your model number and post the resuslts of your examination and hopefully, a corrected model number.
